PARADOX STENGTHENING COMMUNITY FUND GRANTS DUE MARCH 5TH
The Telluride Foundation's first round of Paradox Strengthening Community Fund grants will be due March 5th. These grants are open to nonprofit, community, and faith based organizations interested in building their capacity to address broad economic recovery issues, and focusing in and around the communities of western San Miguel, Montrose, Dolores and Montezuma counties.

 

Grant applications must be submitted on line by Friday, March 5th at 5pm at http://www.grantrequest.com/SID_942/?SA=SNA&FID=35005. The on line application can also be accessed through the Telluride Foundation's website, under the Funds and Initiatives tab, and then the Paradox Strengthening Communities Grant tab. Grant awards will be announced March 30, 2010. There will be a second round of grants for which applications will be due September 30, 2010. The Telluride Foundation will also be hosting several grant writing open houses, where potential applicants are welcome to drop in and receive individual assistance in writing their grant applications or can receive answers to questions about their applications. These open house workshops will be held as follows:

 

Tuesday, February 23 from 2pm to 6pm at the Dove Creek Library Wednesday, February 24 from 2pm to 6pm at the Naturita Library Tuesday, March 2 from 2pm to 6pm at the Dove Creek Library Wednesday, March 3 from 2pm to 6pm at the Naturita LibraryThis Strengthening Communities grant program is the result of American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Stimulus funding from Department of Health and Human Service, which the Telluride Foundation, in partnership with JVA Consulting and the National Center for Social Entrepreneurs received at the end of 2009. The purpose of the Strengthening Communities Fund is to improve the ability of nonprofit and faith based organizations and community groups to promote the economic recovery of their communities. Over $600,000 in grant funding as well as technical assistance and training will be available to nonprofits and faith based organizations to build the capacity of their nonprofits in order to address the broad economic recovery issues present in these rural communities, including helping individuals secure and retain employment, earn higher wages, obtain better-quality jobs, and gain greater access to state and Federal benefits and tax credits. The primary focus of the grant will be the western and rural portions of San Miguel, Montrose, Dolores and Montezuma counties, including the communities of Norwood, Redvale, Egnar, Naturita, Nucla, Paradox, Dove Creek and Rico.
