The Telluride Foundation's Board of Directors voted Ann Brady as the 2012 Outstanding Citizen. Brady was one of 10 citizens nominated by the community for their exemplary service and volunteerism to the community. Brady, who currently serves on Telluride Town Council and retired as Telluride School District Superintendent in 1999, has spent the last 12 years serving the Telluride community and numerous nonprofits as a volunteer.
The Telluride Foundation's Citizen of the Year award is in recognition of someone who has unselfishly contributed to the Telluride regional community's quality of life. Brady will receive a commemorative plaque and a grant of $5,000 to be given in her name to the local non-profits of her choice; she has chosen to divide this grant among five art organizations: Chamber Music Festival, Choral Society, Palm Arts, Playwrights Festival, and Telluride Theater. Brady shares the honor of being selected as an Outstanding Citizen with Terry Tice (2003), Lissa Margetts (2004), John Micetic (2005), Bill Carstens (2006), John Pryor and Jane Hickcox (2007), Kathy Green (2008), Marilyn Branch (2009), Dan and Greer Garner and Andrea Benda (2010) and Billy "Senior" Mahoney (2011) as an Outstanding Citizen recipient.
