From November 4 - 11, 2011, The Telluride Foundation and other local nonprofit organizations hope that every single citizen will log-on to http://telluridegives.razoo.com and contribute for the benefit of local charities. Donors search for and choose a project and give directly to something that will make a difference and celebrate the magic of the Telluride region. This is an opportunity for everyone who cares about the Telluride region to give collectively to the community.
"We know that nonprofit organizations enrich our lives every day, so we hope this week, we can show our collective appreciation by giving online," says Paul Major, president and CEO of the Telluride Foundation. "The week of community giving will conclude on a memorable date 11.11.11, so mark your calendars and support the Telluride region."
The Telluride Foundation has been supporting the good work of local nonprofits for 11 years and now wants to connect individuals with their stories, their success and their challenges. Each community nonprofit is invited to post an individual project that needs funding. Donors go to http://telluridegives.razoo.com and select which projects to fund and what amount to give; donors may give to many or a single cause. A hundred percent of all donations go to charity (minus a 2% processing fee charged by the credit card companies). Giving will commence on Nov. 4, 2011 and end Nov. 11, 2011.
Co-chairman of the Telluride Foundation Board, Ed Barlow says, "This is about our daily lives - our schools, pets, education, athletics, arts, culture, health and families - everything that makes our lives and our community unique. It is also about taking care of one another, providing for families and children in need or in crisis."
Campaign organizers hope that people will give on this day for their first time. They also think that donors will connect with new causes and programs. "We want every citizen to participate at any amount. Everyone can give back and select a cause they are most passionate about. All proceeds go to the cause you select."
