Paradox Strengthening Communities Fund Grants Due September 30

The Paradox Community Trust - Strengthening Communities Fund second round grant applications will be due September 30. The grants are open to nonprofit, community, and faith based organizations interested in building their capacity to address broad economic recovery issues present in the communities of western San Miguel, Montrose, Dolores, and Montezuma counties.

 

Grant applications must be submitted online by Thursday, September 30 by 5:00 pm. The online application can be accessed through the Telluride Foundation's website, under the Funds and Initiatives tab, and then the Paradox Strengthening Communities Grant tab or at http://www.telluridefoundation.org/index.php?page=paradox. Grant awards will be announced October 28, 2010. Any organization interested in applying that did not attend one of the Pre-Application Workshops held in Dove Creek on September 8th or Naturita on September 9th should contact Karl Shaddock at kshaddock.paradox@gmail.com or 308.340.0753.

 

The Strengthening Communities Fund grant program is the result of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (stimulus) funding from the Department of Health and Human Services, which the Telluride Foundation, in partnership with JVA Consulting and the National Center for Social Entrepreneurs received at the end of 2009. The purpose of the Strengthening Communities Fund is to improve the ability of nonprofit and faith based organizations and socially-conscious businesses to promote the economic recovery of their communities. In total, over $600,000 in grant funding as well as technical assistance and training will be available to address broad economic recovery issues present in these rural communities, including helping individuals secure and retain employment, earn higher wages, obtain better-quality jobs, and gain greater access to state and Federal benefits. The Paradox Strengthening Communities Fund is focused on the western and rural portion of San Miguel, Montrose, Dolores, and Montezuma counties, including the communities of Norwood, Redvale, Naturita, Nucla, Dove Creek, Cahone and Rico.
